Education Outdoors Mysterious Creatures Review and Giveaway

We are usually quite the game playing family.  We spend at least once a month having a friendly get together with several other families.  The kids go crazy tearing apart our house while the adults enjoy a few drinks and some games.  Sometimes the older children join in or play their own games but it is always a fun evening for everyone.  We also used to have family game night at least once a week (before Declan started getting into everything)!  Recently, my youngest sister has been stuck inside due to a surgery so we have even been moving game night over there once a week to enjoy some family time.

Education Outdoors Inc. was created by Tim Paczesny in 2005 (a fellow Michigander) in hopes of developing a fun way for children to learn more about the outdoors.  "With the average child watching over 20 hours a week of television, and with statistics showing violent images shown on t.v. reaching over 8,000 per child, Education Outdoors Inc. has been embraced by families that long for a refreshing change in the types of products available to their children."

We were asked to review the Mysterious Creatures Game which was perfect for our odd family.  "Mysterious Creatures™ the Game was created to engage player's curiosity in the mysteries of nature that exist across the world. The game takes each player on an adventure/race across the globe in search of their creature's evidence cards." The boys are always going through phases (as most children do) liking strange creatures/figures or being afraid of them and we all love being outside as much as possible.

The first thing I noticed about this game is that each card had a picture of the creature and the country in which it originated color coded so Dane could easily navigate and learn more about where other countries were located.  This thrilled me to see since I was a little concerned that the game would be too ahead of his level being that he is four and the game is for eight and over.

I've said before that Dane is very smart and ahead several levels so it made me happy to see he was able to catch on and play with his older sister or any of us. Another great factor is the game has very few small peices that we ahd to worry about playing with around Declan "The Destroyer of All".  It was very interesting for us adults to even learn the neat facts like where "Nessie" originated (especially since he has made an appearance on Phineaus and Ferb).  I cannot wait until our monthly game night to share such an entertaining game with the other families in our group!

Education Outdoors also has several other popular games such as Fish Camp, Smore'sSnipe Hunt and more.  They also offer free printable coloring pages for your camping trips (if you even need them).

Cost:  $24.99
Available to purchase: Education Outdoors
Recommendation:  I thought these were the perfect games for the boys since I am always trying to get them out and playing more!  I cannot stand video games and how much children play them.  Like I said I cannot wait to share this with others and play with my extended family in the coming weeks, it was so much fun (while sneaking in the learning)!
