I've already told you all of my allergy to Tide detergent and originally when I first started reviewing products, I was quite hesitant in trying out all these so called "green friendly" laundry soaps. I wasn't quite sure how my skin would react and whether or not they would be a cost effective option. So before blogging and over the course of the last couple years I have tried to transition my family into a much greener world and one of those ways meant making my own cleaners at home (laundry detergent most specifically). I know first hand how harmful some of the every day chemicals we use in our homes can be. This has actually become a great eye opener as to what other options are out there. I love trying new ecofriendly household products even when I make my own. Several have replaced my own and I am confident using them around my family.
For the longest time I've been wanting to give Laundry Tarts a try but just never did until they recently asked me to review a few of their products. They come available in ten yummy flavors - Apple Pie, Banana Bread, Birthday Cake, Black Forest Cake, Bubblegum, Key Lime Pie, Pina Colada, Rootbeer Float, Strawberry Shortcake, and of course unscented. The first thing I noticed when I received these was wow, what an awesome smell. I could distinctly smell the scent of the Rootbeer Float detergent so much it made my mouth water!!
Also, I am a weirdo about the way my clothes smell...I don't want them to have no scent I want to smell like sweets if I am washing them in something like the strawberry shortcake. Which they didn't so I was a little dissappointed. Although, I need to remind myself that this is a good thing and only means that there are no chemicals adhering to your fabric and in turn it can being absorbed into your skin. Commercial detergents use phtlatlates which are like a waxy scent chemical that bonds to materials so that is why clothing smells fresh when in reality, it is made by odors. But my clothes and especially the towels came out feeling very soft and bright! I experienced no reaction to any of the clothes that I've washed so far so I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product!
Cost: $6 The Laundry Tarts Sweet Spot Stain Remover Stick
$20-24 (4lb - 72 loads) The Laundry Tarts Detergent
$10-14 Laundry Tarts Strip It! Pre- Treatment Formula
Where to Buy: USA Retailers
Recommendation: Honestly, I think these are great! The cost is especially worth it if you have a front loader because to be honest you will need to use way less per load so they should last for quite some time. The Strip It! Formula worked extremely well on the heavily soiled washes and again I didn't need much for my front loaders. I bet the other scents are just as amazing as the two I received so I'd like to give them a try too!
