The only thing with bacon is how much of a pain it can be from start to finish. Not only does the grease splatter every where when cooking it in a skillet but then you have a ton of grease left over to dispose of. Well first off let me start by telling you I do not cook my bacon in a skillet anymore - its too messy! The other thing I do now is let the grease cool so it thickens and I can scrape into the trash. But what if I was cooking ground beef and I needed to separate the grease from the meat - then what?
Thankfully I discovered the totally awesome kitchen tool, Silpoura. This is a silicone clip on spout which helps with pouring and straining of all sorts of things. The first of which being grease! I always hated trying to pour my grease into a can or using a strainer and trying to figure out how to avoid it going down the sink drain. Now I really don't have to worry about either!
Silpoura has its own built in strainer too so I don't have to dirty up one of mine as well as a bowl to catch the grease. (My parents have always taught me how terrible the grease is for your pipes and disposal.) Now all I need to do is pour the grease directly into a can or the trash can without a single bit of mess. I can also use my Silpoura for straining my rice and noodles or just as a pour spout for any other liquids!
"The original name was g-Spout (G for Gail, or G for Grease) which we thought was really funny - and people remembered the name really well. I wanted to hear Oprah say, "I love my g-Spout") But we found that not everyone has a sense of humor - especially retailers. So we had to come up with a different name, and we have chosen Silpoura (Silicone, Pouring, Accessory) which has a more elegant ring to it."
Cost: $9.99 for 1 or $17.99 for 2
Available to purchase: Silpoura
Recommendation: This is a great tool I would recommend for anyone!! It is inexpensive and replaces several other kitchen utensils. I love mine and will probably be getting several others as gifts for my mother and sister! You would be crazy to not purchase one for yourself!
