You should all know by now, I usually try to make everything from scratch when I can. So when Nielsen Massey agreed to send me a variety of their extracts to bake/cook with I was over the top thrilled! Nielsen Massey sent me over their Pure Almond Extract, Pure Chocolate Extract, Pure Orange Extract, Pure Peppermint Extract, and their Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract (of course in my opinion the best of the bunch)!
So of course the first thing I had to bake was my Lucky Leaf knock off recipe "Cherry Chocolate Macaroon Pie"
1 -9" Graham Cracker Pie Crust
1 cup white chocolate chips plus a few extra chips to sprinkle
1 3/4 cups flaked coconut
1-14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon Nielsen Massey Pure Almond Extract
1 can Lucky Leaf Cherry Pie filling
Preheat oven to 350, layer 1/2 cup white chocolate chips then 1 3/4 cups coconut along the bottom of pie crust. Pour 1 cup condensed milk over chips and chocolate.
Bake 18-22 minutes until top is lightly golden brown.
While baking, mix in a small saucepan over low-medium heat 2-3 minutes until smooth - the remaining condensed milk, 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, and 1 tsp almond extract.
Pour mixture over cooled coconut pie, let cool for 10 min.
Spoon Cherry Pie Filling over top.
Sprinkle additional coconut and white chocolate chips on top
Wow, what a pop this extract brought out in the flavor of this pie as I've never used this in prior bake sessions of this pie! My next recipe had to of course be my amazing Jack Daniels Pecan Pie.
1- 9" Pie crust Caramel sauce
2 large eggs (slightly beaten) 1 egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup dark Karo syrup 1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar 1/2 c. butter
4 teaspoons corn starch 1/2 c. canned milk
8 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup Jack Daniels bourbon
6 oz. white chocolate
2 teaspoons Nielsen Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract
1 bag pecan halves
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Mix eggs and Karo syrup.
Combine sugar and corn starch, add to egg mixture.
Melt chocolate and butter, cool. Add bourbon and vanilla extract - combine with egg mixture. Beat together in mixer on slow speed.
Pour into a 9 inch unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle evenly with pecan halves.**
Bake on cookie sheet for one hour. Pie should be firm and will "set-up" while cooling. Drizzle Caramel Sauce over pie.
**To make an impressive looking pie, lay the pecan halves on top in a circle around the edge and keep making circles until the pie top is covered rather then sprinkling them on top.
Yummy Yummy in MY tummy! I just love this recipe and it now even more than before has such a melt in your mouth taste! The quality of these extracts is of something you just can't find anywhere else. The quality and pop of flavor that you get from adding these to your everyday recipes is just awesome!
Cost: $vary
Available to purchase: Store Locator or Online Retailers
Recommendation: These are phenomenal extracts as well as the recipes they provide. I truly believe using Nielsen Massey Products will up your cooking style to a gourmet level. My only issue is they can be pricey.
Giveaway: Nielsen Massey is going to give one of A Lucky Ladybug's lucky readers the same four sampler of extracts I received of their own!
