Daiya Foods Cheese Style Wedge Review

Daiya Cheese
You know its funny, all my life I have had a secret love affair with cheese.  Then, I met my husband and not only did we fall in love but we had a secret to keep together (haha).  He loves cheese even more than me.  We both love to eat it on just about everything you can imagine.

There are so many different kinds and varieties of flavors it seems you never can get enough.  Only problem is if you start to learn anything about dieting or eating healthy, cheese is kind of a no no, especially in large amounts.  I couldn't imagine being lactose intolerant either!  Thankfully there are brands out there that make a healthy alternative for those individuals.
Daiya Foods creators, Andre Kroecher and Greg Blake, shared the same feeling in wanting to offer "great tasting food with a kind lifestyle".  Both have been vegans for over 20 years which is what started the creation of a new dairy free alternative.  In Sanskrit, Dayaa means "loving, kindness and compassion".

I was sent two coupons to give Daiya Foods a try so off to the grocery store I went.  Unfortunately my store didn't have a huge selection of Daiya cheeses but we were still able to pick out two flavors we knew we would enjoy - Cheddar Style Wedge and Jalapeno Garlic Havarti Style Wedge.

I have to say I was a bit confused when I first opened the packages as I wasn't sure if we were supposed melt the cheese or slice it.  That's actually the best part, you can do whatever you want with it and it is easily made into a delicious snack!  The cheddar definitely has a sharp cheddar flavor but tastes amazing on a sandwich!  The Jalapeno Garlic is packed with quite the flavor as you are almost confused as both flavors pop at different times in your mouth!  I loved this one sliced up on some crackers.
Both cheeses are trans fat free, dairy free, and 100% Vegan with no artificial ingredients, preservatives, or hormones & antibiotics.  You can also rest easy knowing they are free of common allergens including: Dairy (casein and lactose), soy, gluten, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts (excluding coconut).

Cost: $4.99 at Kroger but can vary
Available to purchase: Store Locator
Recommendation:  I would actually love to try more of the other products to get even more of a feel for what they have to offer.  Plus they also have partnered with several other companies and are included as one of the ingredients in their foods.  A lot of the products seem to be a decent price as most premium cheeses can get pretty pricey.  This seems like a company that truly provides a quality product.
