"Thomas & Friends®: Muddy Matters" will be available from Lionsgate Home Entertainment on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand January 15, 2013. It includes five episodes plus one bonus episode and three bonus feature games/puzzles/Karaoke Music Video.
The synopsis says "Through mud, garbage and muck, Thomas and his engine friends show that being Really Useful can be a dirty job! See James turn into the Really Muddy Engine and Thomas get showered with garbage. Watch Peter Sam make a big mess trying to keep things on track as Thomas creates chaos with the crows and much, much more. Join Thomas and the Steam Team as they make the best of the mess in these exciting muddy and mucky adventures!"
"Thomas the Tank Engine™ was created by a father for his son over 65 years ago and today is enjoyed by families in more than 185 territories and in 30 languages." What an accomplishment!! Plus, "for the 11th consecutive year, Thomas & Friends® was the number one license in the preschool toys category in the United States and Thomas & Friends also holds the number one spot for overall top preschool property in the US".
There are very few children I have come across who are not huge Thomas fans. In fact I noticed over Christmas ton's of mother complaining that they couldn't find enough Thomas since it was so popular and sold out everywhere! Dane said he loved this this DVD except he was a little disappointed in the length as usual. He said he wished they had made this story into a full length movie. This didn't surprise me as he seems to say that after every Thomas DVDs that isn't a movie like Blue Mountain Mystery!
Dane particularly enjoyed the episode where the trains went on a treasure hunt for a pirates chocolate gold coins? I must have missed this episode of course but he said each train learned how they had to work together to find them kind of like when he and his friends play hide and seek.
Cost: $14.98
Recommendation: This one wasn't quite long enough for my children. They enjoy watching a whole movie and not separate episodes even on one DVD. The story line was great with some good lessons as usual! I have come to expect an enjoyable experience regardless of series, episode, or movie from Thomas and his friends. I really loved this one though because making messes can be fun and kids need to enjoy being sloppy, yucky, and disgusting. Then they can learn to enjoy the clean up as well.
