One of the great things we decided to start as a family was teaching ourselves and our children to learn how to sign. By doing something like this together it made learning a "new language" fun! As soon as we made the decision to learn sign language I had to contact the company Baby First! I couldn't think of a more perfect opportunity to share with my readers the effectiveness of their "I Can Sign" DVD.
The synopsis says, "Learn how to use sign language to converse with your baby even before she can speak actual words! With I Can Sign, you will give your baby the precious gift of self-expression. I Can Sign offers a simple and engaging way to teach parent and baby how to sign key words. This is a great way to open the lines of communication, even before baby learns to speak!"
I love the slow but fun interaction you see throughout the DVD and how easily entertained Declan actually was with this educational video. Declan slowly learned not only some of the basic signing but how to open up more verbally. We actually all enjoyed the video even though I'd say it was a little cheesy for the adults but of course its geared towards the babies or the parents of babies. And remember mine are older than two.
Recommendation: I have to say I loved this DVD and for the price and how it has helped engage all of us in the learning of sign language. I think Baby First is a phenomenal company which has always caught the attention of even Dane at age five. I recommend checking out if your cable company has this station and regardless checking out their online shop!
