On July 2nd, 2013 Gaiam in collaboration with Hallmark, released the DVD Smart Cookies. This is in celebration as you may have heard already of the 100 year anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. With a popular crew of actresses including Bailee Madison (Just Go With It, Parental Guidance) and Jessalyn Gilsig (“Glee”), star alongside multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated actress Patricia Richardson (“Home Improvement”).
The synopsis says "In this film celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA, busy realtor Julie Sterling is on the verge of a promotion and isn´t happy to hear her boss wants to assign community service to everyone in the office. Julie gets assigned to lead a struggling Girl Scout troop, who is in desperate need of a leader to boost their self-esteem and coach them through a competitive annual cookie drive. A reluctant volunteer, Julie struggles to teach the girls to believe in themselves as they compete against an A-list troop. As Julie gets to know the girls, she instills in them a sense of pride, self-esteem and friendship, as the scouts teach her to enjoy what´s important in life. When the newly bonded troop helps a fellow scout in need, Julie realizes the bonds she´s made with the girls means more to her than the bottom line."
Alana picked this movie because she quickly notice the Glee actress on the cover! Her and her girlfriend watched it the other night and thought it was very cute and motivating. They did mention it was a little below their age group but had great lessons of not giving up and stressing less about things that are out of your control.
Price: Combo $14.93
Recommendation: To be honest, the girls thought it was cute and enjoyed watching it together! I don't know that I'd spend $15 on it but I would say it could be enjoyable one to catch on TV.
