Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel recently released The Sweeter Side Of Life and Meddling Mom together as a double feature on DVD on August 27th, 2013. I was pretty excited to watch both of these after reading the synopsis as I though they might be ones which I could easily relate to within my own life!
The Synopsis says "From an interfering mother whose love for her daughters is limitless, to a newly single woman who is forced to find herself after she thinks she has lost everything, both films are laugh-out-loud hilarious and fun for the whole family."
"The Meddling Mom premiere was seen by one million unduplicated viewers (P2+), making it the most watched Hallmark Movie Channel original movie premiere in network history among women 25-54, and the premiere plus five encores reached nearly 1.8 million viewers. The Sweeter Side of Life was seen by nearly 3.1 million unduplicated viewers (P2+) on Hallmark Channel."
The first movie The Sweeter Side of Life is about a woman who is married to a successful doctor and he ends up having an affair and files for divorce. I really related to this movie since I am currently at the tail end of my divorce and I know that life takes us where we need to be at the right time and place. Everything happens for a reason, such is the premise of this movie.
The second movie on the disc is Meddling Mom, Who can't relate to this one on some level. I know that I have a very overbearing mother who wants to be involved in every aspect of my life. This is a cute movie about an ethnic family made up of a mother and her two daughters (I can relate to this being in that situation myself, just hope I don't meddle too much in their lives later in life). When the youngest of the daughters gets married and moves into an apartment on her mom's property, Mom gets on them to start having a baby and tries to set up her oldest daughter with her fiends son. It was a very cute feel good movie that anyone can relate to.
Cost: $14.98 DVD
Recommendation: I thought these movies were really cute and very relate-able to my own life. Of course there were sappy parts where I wanted to cry but very much worth the price for two great movies!
