Yet again, I am gonna start off by saying never have I considered purchasing or leasing a Mazda vehicle before now. I have nothing against the company its just never seemed to be in my thoughts as an optional vehicle. Now keep in mind throughout this post that my vehicle is the Grand Touring model so it is anything but the basic model!
The 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring has some really awesome features that I personally was pretty impressed with. This one of those which have a Push Button Start with Smart Key, which is a bit difficult to get used to at first. Although, (and hoping this is somewhat safe) the kids like the fact they are able to "be in charge of the key" in the backseat while we drive.
The the security and safety of this vehicle and all its features is absolutely fantastic. You can rest assured you and your family are very well protected when driving in this vehicle. From the Rain-sensing windshield wipers which increase speed when heavier rains are detected to the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System they seem to have thought of everything.
Also included is the Rear Camera Display and Rear Cross Traffic Alert System, so you can keep an eye out as you back up for more than just moving objects (children, grocery carts) but possible bikes parked behind you or even trees or barriers. There is a Smart City Brake Support system, Advanced front air bags, Front side-impact air bags, and side-impact air curtains.
Not only is this a brand which has your safety in mind, they also want you to feel the luxury of a superstar! I love the Dual-zone automatic climate control with pollen filter as my family suffers terribly from allergies and if you've ever lived in the south, you know how terrible the pollen can be! Of course for those of us in the drastic weather of the North (ie. Michigan), there are heated front seats as well!! Nothing better than warming your freezing butt up in the blistering cold!
Now because the car is red, I am completely aware that the Leather-trimmed seats, wrapped steering wheel, and wrapped shift knob are actually accented with red. However, it appears to be pink to me and being that's my favorite color I fell in love with the interior!
I, like most people have gotten used to the hands free and Bluetooth features most cars come standard with. It actually seems odd for me to find one which doesn't. The Mazda6 Grand Touring, however, comes standard with something called the Commander Switch. This was a feature I will be requiring my next vehicle has as it makes even the simple press of a button to change your radio station that much easier and without having to take focus off the road!
We decided to put the skills of this car to the test by driving it both on city, suburban, and expressway roads as well as around the country dirt roads while searching for houses as we are doing right now. It handled great and we were able to fully utilize its features doing so. The areas we were unfamiliar with, we used the navigation and were also dependent on the speed limits it posted on its 5.8" Full-color touch-screen display. If we were over more than 5 miles an hour, we knew as it would flash in red!
I really can't say enough great things about the Mazda6 Grand Touring! We were thoroughly disappointed to see it go. The kids enjoyed the sporty look, not having to drive in an "old persons" car as my teenager would say, and we enjoyed the features, safety and room it provided our family with (all while feeling a bit younger driving it too)!
Available to Purchase/Cost: Starting at $29,695
Recommendation: This is a vehicle I would definitely recommend to any small family, couple, or single! The features are all there and totally in tune with the pricing of the vehicle. You are going to feel as though you are driving a luxury and sports vehicle at a standard price!
