I have made an attempt to look into as many pod brewers as possible to research the best option for our kitchen. There are tons of big names available that I am sure you've all heard of. Thankfully, I was asked to review a Tassimo Brewer this holiday season. To be honest with you this has not been one of those pod brewers that I had even had a chance to look into but I sure am glad I have now.
The Tassimo brewers are unique as they something other than a Kcup called a T Disk. T Disks have a scanner bar code on each which use a new technology "INTELLIBREW to scan each T DISC and identify precise brewing instructions with the exact temperature, water, and time duration, so each and every drink is perfect every time. It is more than a coffee maker." I was sent over the Tassimo T55 Single Cup Brewing System to review.
Tassimo T Disks are made by over ten brand companies and come in dozens even hundreds of flavors of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages. We were a bit confused in the beginning as how to remove the cup stand however after Kevin read the directions a bit more thoroughly, we got it figured out! Now we can customize and adjust the height to fit our individual mugs perfectly.
We were pretty pumped to open our brewer to find a Mavea water filter inside which we had reviewed in the past and loved! Having a built in filter helps the quality of coffee as well as the machines functioning. My parents have found mold (yes mold) built up in their big name brand machine because it doesn't include a built in filter
Included with your brewer is even a cleaning T Disk which coming from the restaurant industry (specifically a big provider of coffee beverages), I know how important it is in the life of your machine to complete regular maintenance. Being such an eco-enthusiast who runs around unplugging everything not in use, I was happy to also hear that the T55 uses zero watts when in standby mode!
I do have to say I was fairly disappointed with the noise this made while brewing our cups as it says it uses a "Noise reduction system for quiet preparation of beverages". However, I love the instant heat-up since it allows seconds for me to have my coffee in hand and walking out the door!
