Chicken Soup for the Soul: Home Sweet Home Book Review
Ok so with us trying to move over the last 9 months, this next book could not have come out at a better time for me personally. We have been through so so many ups and downs with trying to find a home and we are just finally now realizing that there has been a reason for that. I am a firm believer in fate and that everything happens for a reason. I think we were either settling or the houses were just not THAT home and there was something keeping us until we found the right one.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Home Sweet Home synopsis says "Home is where the heart is. Whether your home is an apartment, a house, or a condo — rented or owned — the 101 stories in this book, all about the place you call home, will warm your heart. You will find joy, laughter, and inspiration in this collection of stories about cooking, family meals, decorating, remodeling, repairing... everything we do to make a home."
This book has helped me come to terms with the fact that the previous houses we had offers in on or contracts for where just houses and not a HOME for us. Home truly is where the heart is so why wouldn't we want it to just click when we walked in or be a place where we could envision our kids playing in the yard in for years and growing up in?! There are so many loving stories in this one which just make you excited about making new memories as well as remembering the old ones you've made in previous places!
Cost/Available to Purchase: $11.36 Chicken Soup for the Soul: Home Sweet Home: 101 Stories about Hearth, Happiness, and Hard Work
Recommendation: I don't know that I would go and seek out this book if I hadn't been looking for something on the specific subject but this one still gave me the warm and fuzzies. It also helped me feel a bit more at ease about this long and terrible process we've been dealing with.

ReplyDeletewhen I was young we moved b/f from CO to KS (where I am from)-when we were in co, I was never happy, in ks I missed my friends in co..i was shuffled b/f so much due todivorces, I just didn't realize what i had, neither did my mom and step-dad, until it was too late..they sold the house in co, after my dad's (step-dad, but he is my dad) parents' deaths' and regretted it within a yr..the prices went up, and they wish they had kept it to move back to. By that time, I wasan adult, w one child, had broken up w the love of my life, from co, and was miserable, too..CO had become my home, too late..even now, 27 yrs later, I long for the mtn air,not knowing now, if my body can handle it w my poor health, you just neverknow....
ReplyDeleteI'm still in my first home which I brought my two youngest kids home to and it is the only home my mother saw me move into before she died.
ReplyDeleteMy story is that I still live in the same home I grew up in and I'm now 50 yrs. old. It's always been a 2 family home and for many years my parents rented the apartment upstairs. 14 years ago when the last tenant moved out I moved in. My mom passed away 9 years ago, so since then it's just been my dad and I. I like that I am here to keep an eye on him (he's 91), but that both of us have our own space.
ReplyDeleteWe spent every penny we had on our first home. We were happy the former owners left some empty bottles in the garage. We took them to the store, cashed them in and bought some lunch meat for lunch. We always talk about it.
