Adventure Planet DVD Review and #Giveaway
You know when I first heard about a new movie coming to DVD from Arc Entertainment called Adventure Planet, I was thinking it would be another great super hero story for the boys to enjoy. I had no idea what it was really about or if the boys would enjoy it. On August 26th, 2014, Arc Entertainment released Adventure Planet on DVD.
I've got to tell you I honestly had no idea that this would be a movie I might enjoy watching along with the kiddos. This was actually very eco-involved in a way of teaching children to love the planet more. Featuring the talented voices of Jane Lynch (Fox’s “Glee,” Wreck-It Ralph), Brooke Shields (Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana”), Bailee Madison (Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place”), Drake Bell (Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh,” Super Hero Movie), and J.K. Simmons (Spider Man)!
The synopsis says "Get ready for this amazing adventure that shows how kids can save the world! NORVA and JORPE are a gifted and loving sister and brother living in Thailand who have unique abilities to communicate with nature. They literally run into SAM, the son of the president of the Capital State, when he gets lost on a scouting expedition. Sam is impetuous and fool-hardy, but he soon learns to respect his two companions as his electronic gadgets go haywire and strange, burning objects plunge from the sky. The kids rush to the Capital State to warn the president and stop the damage, but they’re no match for the energy-hungry devices that threaten to engulf the planet. The only way to prevent the complete destruction of the world is to turn off all the power and let the earth regenerate, but how can they get the message across to everyone in time?"
The boys were quite excited about watching this one right away and once I realized it was about taking care of the planet, I did too. We were all very curious about the whole story and special abilities of the girls. I loved how it taught us to listen more to the planet and other things like trees that we don't normally think about.
They said they thought it was a little scary for them even though "it wasn't too scary to watch before bed or anything". I just felt it was a bit dark for a children's movie but I get the reasoning behind it. I feel the writers were trying to prove a point about technology.
Recommendation: I thought the story line was awesome as not only did it have the action to keep the boys interested but the overall lesson was a good one. Declan has even been reciting lines from the DVD over the last few days.
