Guinness World Records 2015 Review and #Giveaway
I have to say in my many years of reading and school, I probably have only looked at the Guinness World Records twice. However, when recently looking through and reading some of the material of the Guinness World Records 2015, I found it to be much more interesting and intriguing than ever. Never have I realized how much the team works to put together this book for the world until now. This year is the 60th anniversary addition which makes it extra special! There is information from sporting events, highest gross paid celebs, and pretty much anything else you could possibly think of.
The Guinness World Records 2015 pretty much records everything in it from sizes and depths of fresh water lakes to the longest fingernails. Which as a side note to anyone who is from Michigan should know that Lake Superior is one of the largest fresh water lakes. I found this particularly interesting being from here and I still had no clue it was.
While you may find some of it interesting, others may find some of it disgusting such as how long someones finger nails are. The longest finger nails on a pair of hands which happens to be a female totals out at the length of 19 feet 9 inches. The lady's left hand is 10 feet 2 inches and her right hand 9 feet 7 inches. Can you imagine having nails that long?? How do you tie your shoes?! Or the time it took to measure her nails and how careful they had to be?
Another interesting fact that I found in the book is how tall structures and bridges are. I never in a million years thought that some of these structures could be so big. One of the most interesting ones to me was the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway was completed in October of 2005 and is 13,123 feet above sea level. That would be a fun adventure to try and put that together. I can't imagine how the hours of that job are!
There are so many interesting pieces to the Guinness World Records 2015, of course too many for me to indulge the WHOLE book. But here are some that I enjoyed.
- Youngest Video Gamer
- Loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium
- Most trees planted in 3 days
- Most piercings in a lifetime
- Largest group of bridesmaids
In the end what I'm trying to say is that the Guinness World Records 2015 holds criteria for almost anyone. Whether your looking for "freak show" records, sporting records, the wealthiest people, celebrities, the Olympics and so much more.
Available to purchase/Cost: $16.90 Guinness Store
Recommendation: It may not be for everyone but I feel it shouldn't be something that is passed upon. If you ever get the chance to look through it I'm sure you could find something that intrigues you and or something you may not have ever known. This makes for a great gift too!
