Tempflow™: My Road to the Perfect Mattress Inside and Out

        I recently let you all know I would be searching out the perfect mattress and wanted to share the process from start to finish with every one.  This way you know and understand that this is more than just your average product review but a real life struggle to find that "perfect sleep".


        As I also previously mentioned, we spent TONS of hours searching online and in stores for a mattress that works for both Kevin and I (not our co-sleeping kids who need to get OUT of our bed)!  We researched and tested the following types of mattresses:  Air, Futon, Innerspring, Latex, Memory Foam, and even Water;  The following brands were also put to the test:  Comfort King, Tempflow, ComforPedic King Koil, Ikea, Sealy Posturepedic, Serta, Bassett, Simmons Beautyrest, Innova Sleep, Sleep Innov/Novaform, Naturepedic, Sleep Number, AmeriSleep, Sleep Science, Tempur-Pedic, Savvy Rest, Thomasville, and probably a ton more.

        After hours in the stores testing these various brands, I spent many more hours researching online and came across this interesting Tempurpedic mattress comparison article, as well many other articles like this one discussing what constitutes the best memory foam mattress.  It was a long process, but we finally decided on a mattress that fit our lifestyle, personalities, sleep patterns, and health needs.  I am beyond thrilled to share our decision to purchase the Tempflow™ mattress as well as the afterthoughts months after sleeping on it.

        Made in the U.S.A. by Relief Mart, Inc., Tempflow™ is a high quality memory foam mattress.  All materials used are even sourced and made in the U.S.A.  The Biogreen® visco-elastic memory foam used is of a 5 pound density and uses "approximately 13 times below oeko-tex®, certipur-us® and greenguard's allowable total V.O.C.s (Volatile Organic Compounds) required to achieve certification".

        Tempflow's Biogreen® memory foam "passed every GreenGuard Schools and Children laboratory testing criteria from the very prestigious UL laboratories".  Being such an eco-enthusiast, I have learned that these are the factors that make a true difference in our health.  Before blogging and over the course of the last couple years I have tried to transition my family into a much greener world and one of those ways meant making my own cleaners at home for these very reasons.

        I know first hand how harmful some of the every day chemicals we use in our homes can be and how they can affect our families health.  This has been an eye opener for not only myself by friends and family as to what other options are available instead of your traditional brands.  Unfortunately, I am one of "those" people, I am ALWAYS sick! I have the worst immune system in the world and have allergies to everything under the sun.

        "Biogreen® memory foam offers a truly hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly, and non-toxic experience."  I knew this would be one of the biggest factors for me.  Between the allergic reactions to chemicals, illnesses, and asthsma, I wanted a mattress that would be one of the best of it's kind when it comes to the brands eco-friendly standards.

        Next factor, I am one of the many people who loves sleeping on a cold pillow and even love the feeling of cold sheets when you first get into bed.  Yes I know it may seem weird to some people as my husband is the complete opposite.  He turns his heating blanket on at least a half hour before bed each night (even in the summer).  The TempFlow uses a patented Airflow Transfer System™ which "allows the cooler air to flow in two directions even when you are sleeping in the same position throughout the night."

        The TempFlow mattress collection includes a variety of sizes, thickness, and support.  These include the Gaia™, Eclipse™, Selene™, Harmonia™, Celestia™, Copia™ and Eros™.  Each is even geared towards helping the different sleep positions (stomach, side, back), and health factors (injuries, back pain, weight, height).  After looking through each mattress in the collection as well as consulting a specialist, we decided on the Eros™.

        Because each mattress is made to order and can even be custom-made, the process did take a few weeks from purchase to door.  Good things come to those who wait!  I was more than happy to wait on a mattress created just for me as opposed to one sitting in a warehouse, collecting dust, while waiting who knows how long to be sold.  Not only does TempFlow provide you with a 40 year warranty on their mattresses (4 times longer than Tempurpedic) but you also have a 120 night sleep trial period

        Now, after four months sleeping on our Eros™ Tempflow™ mattress, how do I honestly feel?  Well, first of all, we noticed right away that there wasn't going to be anymore monkey's jumping on our bed as there just isn't any "bounce" like you might find in a traditional spring mattress.  We even did one of our own wine glass test to see if it would really stay put without spilling.  (Although you can see from the video, we were too fearful for our new mattress to add any red wine.)  Sure enough, it actually worked with no spill or tipping!

        Because this is different than our previous Spring Mattress with a Pillow Top, it took a few nights to get used to the different feel of it.  One thing I noticed right away being a stomach sleeper was the way it supported different parts of the body.  Being very busty, I am used to laying on my stomach and feeling smothered by my tatas.  This was not the case with my new TempFlow.  It is no longer painful and uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach as I prefer to.

        Each area of the body is supported perfectly and almost instantly.  When switching positions (which I don't find myself doing as much on this mattress), the memory foam goes back to place and reforms to your body in the new position.  Although, I will say Kevin still uses his heating blanket during the winter months, we have also noticed feeling much more comfortable with our body temperatures.  When the boys (aka sweatboxes) crawl into bed with us, we still feel comfortable with the sleeping temperature.

        Ever since I was pregnant with Dane (6 years old now), I have struggled with my sciatic nerve which can be pretty painful at times.  Since I started sleeping on my Eros™ Tempflow™ mattress, I can honestly tell you I have experience a large reduction in days filled with pain from it.  My shoulder injuries from sports (back in my high school days) have all subsided.

        Another huge releif for us has been the number of Kevin's migrained since we transitioned to this mattress.  He used to get several incapacitating migraines each month and has honestly had one maybe two in four months.  I've even noticed a difference in my (or what thought was) my seasonal allergies and asthma.

        Waking up in the morning has been difficult only because of the ultimate comfort we feel!  I feel amazingly more energetic and rested each day and I truly feel you cannot put a price on all of these factors.  My only major complaint is that instead of getting my kids out of my bed, they now constantly want to be in it!  Overall though this has been one of the best investments/purchases Kevin and I have ever made in our lives together!  I have personally recommended the mattress to each and every friend and family member I can think of.
