StartUp Board Games Review and #Giveaway

We have had quite the time lately getting Alana a bit more motivated to be successful in life.  She is your typical teenager and while she does seem to care a great deal about college or grades, she doesn't tend to care much until the last minute on everything.  Her room is complete chaos, she is struggling in school in some subjects, and has no idea what she wants to study with college coming up in only a year.

When I first heard of the game StartUp, I figured it might be a fun way to incorporate our family game nights with a little bit of learning and motivation for her.  "StartUp is a business board game in which players compete to guide their startup company from launch to the completion of a corporate headquarters."  Thankfully they agreed to send me over the StartUp Game for review.

While the game seems very intimidating even to most adults when you first open, it is made for school age children.  The game helps all ages to understand business opportunities, legal hurdles, networking, capitol (and everything behind it), risks, strategy, and so much more.

Our first time playing, it took quite some time to figure out the rules and in general how it should be played.  I would compare it to something similar to Monopoly but so much more in depth.  The boys were of course too young to really play but Dane understood some of the concept at age 6.  All in all the game was very educational for all of us as we learned how to play (and beat each other)

Cost/Available to purchase:  $39.95 StartUp
Recommendation:  I think this is quite expensive for a game but this comes with some pretty detailed pieces and it also very educational.  I don't know how many people would enjoy playing this on regular basis because of how in depth it is but I would recommend this to homeschoolers, teachers, and parents like myself trying to teach their older children.

  3. It seems like a game for adults, but it is for kids. I think this would be a great game if it does show how the world really works and that the path to success is not paved for you.
