Kevin has been bugging me lately about the series, The Newsroom and since we've enjoyed other show series by HBO, I figured now was the best time to get him into the series. The Newsroom: The Complete Second Season was released on Blu-ray/Digital HD combo packs on November 4th, 2014. This will be a 3 disc set with the entire second season.
The synopsis says "Smart, topical, thought-provoking and highly entertaining, The Newsroom takes a behind-the-scenes look at a high-rated cable-news program at the fictional Atlantis Cable News (ACN) Network, focusing on the on- and off-camera lives of its acerbic anchor (Jeff Daniels), executive producer (Emily Mortimer), their newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel and others), news-division boss (Sam Waterston) and parent-company CEO (Jane Fonda). Season 2 will take place over a five-day period leading up to Election Day 2012, and will encompass numerous flashbacks to earlier events from 2011 and 2012. One of the season’s major story arcs involves a wrongful-termination lawsuit made by a staff member alleged to have doctored a report about a suspicious U.S. drone strike. As details about the suit’s origin and aftermath emerge, The Newsroom team continues its quixotic mission to “do the news well” in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles, and their personal entanglements."
You can currently also catch up on the first season On Demand if you haven't seen it yet which is what we are doing. I actually have to say while I do not watch the news because of how depressing I feel it is, this is all about the behind the scenes. It shows a different appreciation for what these individuals might go through during their career. Both Kevin and I are enjoying the series so far as well as the quality of acting.

Recommendation: I would recommend this for any adult on your Christmas gifting list! The drama and acting are worth the purchase in my eyes!
