The most thrown away product is probably baby food. We don't compost yet but I want to!
ReplyDeleteMagazines, as we do not have a recycling bin for them
ReplyDeleteI know we throw away a lot of cardboard each month. But, I don't know if I would call it wasted as we flatten it out, tie it up and recycle it. It just amazes me how much cardboard we use in a month. Yes, I have been composting for 25-30 years and have had compost keepers such as the one up for giveaway, tip don't leave it outside overnight or it may get dragged away by wild animals. Thanks for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhile we try to recycle, when we have microwave popcorn, the single-use containers cannot be recycled, so they go to the landfill. It is one of the reasons why we prefer to make stovetop popcorn, time permitting
ReplyDeleteWhile we try to recycle, when we make microwave popcorn, you cannot recycle the single-use container because it has food residue on it. Thus, we discard that paper container. That is one reason why, time permitting, we prefer to make popcorn on the stovetop

ReplyDeleteBoxes and shipping pieces. I would like to find a way to recycle those types of things. It would be a good lesson for my kids too.
ReplyDeleteWe do compost but we just have an open container in the kitchen, this looks like a much better option.

ReplyDeleteI throw out alot of food, because of my busy schedule, I'm gone for days and it goes bad. I am now learning how to make freezer meals, it saves me time and money. And I love finding new dishes.
ReplyDeleteWe don't compost yet, but we have been thinking about it alot lately and are wanting to get started. We waste more cardboard then anything. We are always crushing and throwing away lots of boxes every week. (Tammy Horn)
ReplyDeleteThe most wasted item in our house would have to be fresh produce. It seems to go bad before we get to use it all. We do compost, but I just have a small composter, this one would be great.
ReplyDeleteYes i have compost pile. I throw alot of veg in to compost pile.
ReplyDeleteOur most wasted item is food scraps. Everything either goes in the bin or down the disposal. I would love to start composting so that many of those scraps would go to good use. We also let a lot of fresh fruit and veg go bad because we forget it is in the drawer, and it would be nice to compost that as well. I just have to get the other folks in the house on board!
ReplyDeleteBanana peels. I've been wanting to start composting, but there is so much conflicting information out there that I don't know where to start. I just need one reliable source then I would be happy.
ReplyDeleteI hate the excess packaging like a box in a box with extra cardboard folded up inside. Such a waste! Some of this is hard to break down to recycle. I do compost by trenching . Dee Fedor Falicki
ReplyDelete..
We started composting about 6 months ago so this would be great to have. We recycle as much as possible too. Currently I'm just using a large bowl for compost stuff and we take it out daily. This would be so much better.
ReplyDeleteThe most wasted item for our house would be fruit or veggies the Produce--sometimes the potatos -- WE compost directly in our back garden. I take a bucket out at least once a week -- more in the summer because of all the fresh fruit
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think is the most wasted/thrown away item in your household? paper towels and napkins. I try to use cloth towels but the other person in my house doesn't! :-)
ReplyDeleteDo you compost?
I do, I have a huge compost pile and I also raise composting worms!
I would say magazines are the most wasted item and we do no compost but should start. thankyou, ken pohl19@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteFaye Gates: We compost everything. We have a plastic bucket, we use, so this would come in handy. My husband is an avid gardener.
ReplyDeletefood is probably the most wasted product. I have never composted but this is a good as any time to start :D
ReplyDeleteWe recycle and reuse and just got two really cool rain barrells put into the back yard. So excited for them this summer.
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of a hard question to answer. I'm guessing maybe coffee filters and coffee grounds are a thing we throw away a lot.
ReplyDeleteI throw away a lot of cardboard in my house and I wish I could recycle it
ReplyDeleteWe throw away a lot of paper towels in our house. We try to recycle what we can.
