I've mentioned in the past my families love for puzzles and that when Kevin and I were first married, we loved working on huge puzzles together. We would sit each night at the kitchen table, turn on a TV program and work away. Since then, it has become a family tradition whenever we can. Now that the boys are at an age where they can work on the difficult ones as well, we've started pulling the puzzles out more frequently.
With reading several studies like the MacArthur Study, which argue that people who work on activities such as jigsaw puzzles and other complex problem solving activities like crossword puzzles, are likely to have less brain "aging" issues. Not only has my family (specifically the women) proven to show a history of Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and other memory loss but who doesn't want those little one's brains functioning at their optimum potential?!
It's because of this, we stress the importance of adding puzzles into a normal routine throughout our week and at least month long schedules. Just about every puzzle we put together as a family, we frame and put on display. These usually tend to be puzzles of artwork or photos from our favorite artists. However, I was recently asked to review one from Hallmarks new line of puzzles in celebration of National Puzzle Day.
While I know I am a few days late, I wanted to share the beautiful puzzle we've been working on. After a bit of discussion, we decided on the Marina Dreams Coastal Scene 1000-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle, thinking it was the most realistic design and would be quite the challenge. Boy were we right! This has been one of the more difficult puzzles for us as a family. We've even recruited our daughters boyfriend recently to help us work on it! Now, we still aren't finished but that doesn't mean we don't love our new project and working on it together!
